Life and Learning at Neot-Semadar
Learning Community
While volunteering in Neot Semadar you join a learning community that focuses on cooperation and creativity in daily life. Along the working days and within them, we explore what it means to live together as co-learners — observing ourselves in everyday activities and relationships.

Neot Semadar is home to 150 members — families and singles — and around 60 volunteers aged 21–35, mostly Israelis, along with 5–10 international volunteers who bring fresh perspectives and learn together what it means to live in awareness and connection.

How long is the minimum volunteering period?
The minimum volunteering period is two months. This allows enough time to become part of the community rhythm, understand the work, and participate fully in shared learning.
What kind of work will I do as a volunteer?
Volunteers take part in the community’s daily work – mainly in the orchard, gardens, kitchen, and cleaning. Assignments are given according to the needs of the community and the volunteer’s abilities.
What is life like at Neot-Semadar?
Neot-Semadar is a quiet and remote place in the Negev Desert. There are no pubs, no city life, and no television. Instead, there is nature, silence, and a rhythm of cooperation and self-reflection.
Are alcohol or drugs allowed?
No. The use of drugs and alcohol is strictly forbidden. This is a space of awareness, clarity, and respect for oneself and others.
