To escape from the constant noise, hustle and bustle that accompanies our lives and to experience tranquility that only the desert can offer. To take a ‘time out’, regenerate and connect to your own individual and unique vitality.

Neot Semadar offers 3 or 5 day Art and Observation Workshops, a chance to create in an enchanting desert atmosphere, in the southern Negev region.

Come to experience a unique combination of art with wood, ceramics and drawing – with attention and observation while experiencing the enriching effect of contemplation on the act of creation.

Kibbutz Neot Semadar’s daily life routine is a continuous journey of observing human relations, the concept of freedom and the ability to create and harmonize with oneself and with the environment. All this occurs alongside the intense effort of developing and maintaining a vibrant and diverse organic agricultural community. The artistic creations complement, nurture and to a certain extent, express this unique lifestyle.

The participants of the workshop are invited to meet with the local people and actively experience the connection between art, contemplation, creation and collaboration, while learning artistic and original techniques. 

The workshop takes place at the Arts House – a unique and inspiring architectural building that houses various workshops and art galleries, in an enchanting structure interspersed with gardens and ponds. The workshops are structured to combine actual work in the studio with nature walks allowing your connection to the power of the desert, the silence and the inspiration it inspires. Additionally, you will also have the opportunity to take part in the various projects on the kibbutz such as the vegetable garden, the herb garden, the goat pen, the dairy, the vineyards and more.

The workshop instructors are members of the community members, with many years of experience in their realm and in their art.

Participation in the workshops is open to all and there is no need for prior experience or special skills.

Accommodations are in pleasant and air-conditioned guest rooms, that offer breathtaking views of the majestic Edom Mountain, in a well-kept oasis, surrounded by eternal desert landscapes. All meals are healthy and delicious, combined locally sourced organic produce (yogurt, goat cheeses, seasonal fruits and vegetables) to form high standard, vegetarian cuisine.
