While volunteering in Neot Semadar you join a learning community that focuses on cooperation and creativity in daily life. Along the working days and within them, we explore what it means to live together as co-learners, observing ourselves in everyday activities and relationships.
This unique experience invites you to stop, the breath, to adapt, to join and observe yourself.
Does this sound exciting to you?
Our interest in relationships extends to the environment through organic farming, desert architecture, water recycling, Art work and more. You will have the chance to join us in some of these activities.
In our community there are 102 members (families and singles), 70 children of various ages, and about 50 – 70 volunteers of all ages, most of them young, most of them Israelis. Most of the time there is also a group of 5-15 international volunteers, that explore a fresh perspective on life here together with us.
When you come to think of volunteering here, there are few things you should notice:
-
The minimum time for volunteering is 3 months.
-
You’ll find yourself working wherever is needed according to the necessity.
-
Neot Semadar is a remote, quiet place in the desert. There is no city near by, no pub, no entertainment. (no television…)
-
The weather is harsh: very hot in summer, cold in winter. Sometimes you work outside. Work starts at dawn and ends up at sunset, sometimes even later.
